This program solves water and irrigation networks, i.e. networks under pressure. The energy losses along the pipes are calculated based on one of the following friction formulas: Manning, Darcy-Weisbach or Hazen-Williams. Apart from hydraulic analysis, water quality analysis can also be performed. The program can be used for single or extended period analyses. The network may contain any number of objects, i.e. nodes, pipes, tanks, reservoirs, valves, hydrants, pumps, air release valves and vacuum valves. The profile drawings can be created with one click.

Features

  • Calibration functions facilitate checking of existing networks.
  • Capability of creating a background collage of satellite images. The images are inserted through a special window in any resolution desired. The images are modified automatically (with translation, rotation, skewness) to fit a certain coordinate system. The overlap is precise and the boundary of the images is practically invisible. This allows the full coverage of the area of the project and diminishes the posibility of error. This capability requires an Internet connection. Also, the quality of the sattelite images varies.

  • English and Greek interface

This add-in program extends Water Networks functionality by adding several useful functions and features. These functions include a water hammer check, automated placement of special devices such as vacuum valves and air release valves and more.

Features

  • Contours of equal value, based on point data or results, which can be exported to a DXF file.
  • Major / minor contours. The major contours are thicker, and they are optionally accompanied by their value. These are also included in the DXF output file.
  • Capability of defining a maximum and minimum value for the contours. Contour values that are greater than the maximum value or lower than the minimum value are displayed in separate, customizable colors.
  • Integrated water hammer checks and placement of pressure release valves in networks without loops.
  • Automated placement of air release valves and vacuum valves where necessary.
  • Advanced object renaming.
  • Node alignment tool.
  • Special functions for designing pipes.
  • “Demand distribution”, distributes a demand to all the network, depending on the conduits’ lengths.
  • Import water areas (closed polylines) from DXF and automatically attach them to adjacent nodes.
  • Exact total water area tool calculates the total area for a specified area category.
  • Evaluation of ground elevation from TIN network (3DFaces in DXF files).
  • Complete integration in Water Networks’ user interface

This program calculates the water hammer caused by slow closing of a valve downstream. The water level of the tank is assumed constant. For the friction calculation, one of 15 available formulas may be used. The solver is based on the method of characteristic lines which substitutes the hyperbolic partial differential equations with common ones. The program can show the variation of the pressure, celerity and flow rate along the pipe in a visual and animated way, including the maximum over-pressure and sub-pressure. Alternatively, the results can be displayed in tabulated form.
